Let's be honest - if you don't know the mechanics of the barrel it's hot garbage. It rolls slow, it has a REALLY obvious audio queue, and it's finicky. In my eyes, the standard roll is a zoning tool. But we don't want to zone we want to HIT because HITTING deals DAMAGE which procs the KNOCK UP which lets us consistently land CRACKSHOT. So I'll go ahead and say it - rolling SUCKS and the arming time is just as bad. But we can get around the roll in two ways - jumping melees and camera angles. If you melee a barrel it's sent flying in a huge arc, instantly arms, and explodes on contact. Doing this on the ground is how you're going to get your distance with barrels, but it's easy to avoid because it's telegraphed. But if you melee a barrel while in the air? It goes STRAIGHT and it still arms INSTANTLY. The barrel is LIGHTNING QUICK with a generous aoe so it's nearly impossible to miss with even a few minutes of practice. You can use it in melee range for the quick pop-up but your bounce pad means you can rain barrels from above with impunity. If you NEED to use your barrels while grounded, your movement and camera angle change the speed of the barrel. If you're running away from the enemy, backpedal and look straight up to plant a stationary barrel. This is most effective indoors and in doorways where you don't have direct line of sight. Almost every other grounded non-melee application is worthless since jumping melee barrels are just that much better. This build is all about the barrel with just enough of a splash in bullet damage to make you a threat with a crackshot. Bounce pad gets a nice benefit from rapid recharge and lasso is just for flavor. Rapid recharge will let your barrels juggle your enemies and the damage will make enemy carries rethink their life choices. Let those barrels loose at all stages of the game and airstrike everything in sight! Let me throw a barrel at it! - Toby Danger
