ER v HB Which to pick?
While extra recharge may seem the ideal choice for a 2nd item, as it costs 800 and having an extra grenade is good, I typically choose healing booster. The reason for this is I gain much more regen from Extra Regen, allowing me to tank damage for my teammates, and extra recharge is simply really hard to make use of that early. I only suggest it if you have a tanky teammate, or if you can run back and heal up successfully. But in most situations healing booster typically performs better, as instead of having to wait 7 seconds per grenade to heal 90, I can heal for 108 per grenade instead. While that seems like a very small amount, you have to understand that for every character in the game that is around 10% of their health at this stage, and if you're mid fight you can heal both of you for 216 combined instantly while still having a charge left. Extra recharge only helps if your getting screwed really early, but you'll most likely be using a grenade immediately anyways to heal as quickly as possible so a lot of the time you don't even use the third slotIncludingly, if you can run back while low, that extra charge most likely won't be much help since, again, you must wait 7s to throw another grenade. Instead, if you're in that much of a pickle, buying healing rite after Healing booster would be more beneficial, as it heals you for 369 and gives you +2 movement speed. But just to say this is all opinion, and there have been situations where getting extra recharge before healing booster is beneficial. Plus To get these 3 is only 3200, so in most games this decision has little effect unless you're trying to min-max. If you do go for healing booster, make sure you understand you will probably need to tank more for your teammate. To explain: if your teammate is taking a lot of damage and healing rite isn't a good option due to AoE damage abilities/weapons, long range abilities/weapons, or if your teammate is just being dumb, you can use Kelvin's high health pool to body block damage going towards your teammate, and simply run back to regen and maybe use a grenade. As a Kelvin, in general actively trying to split the damage between you and your teammate is incredibly beneficial, as the grenade will be able to heal both of you for the same amount, maximizing the amount of healing you're doing to keep your teammate alive. If you use Extra recharge, simply be constantly using the third slot to top off your teammate's health even if you're not in a fight, or if they can simply regenerate. This helps people always be ready to take a punch in case of a random dive.0 items
